Be aware of your surroundings

The best thing you can do to protect yourself is to be aware of what is going on around you. One of the reasons Women's Self Defense makes such a difference in women's lives is simply that it helps them be aware of what can hurt them. The next, of course, is know what to do.

Pay attention to who is around you. Have you seen them before? Do they seem to be going to the same place you are? Are they showing unusual interest in you? Where can you go for safety? Always identify a place to go.

I used to play a game with my daughter when she was little just to help her be aware of what is going on. Now she can kick my butt at it. The game was simple. If we went to a restaurant, after we ordered our food and sat down I would ask her to close her eyes and ask her some questions to see what she had noticed. It was great fun and it helped her to subconsciously take notice of important factors. Make sure it's fun and not scary for youngsters tho.

Questions to ask:

Who has a hat/jacket/purse in the room?

How many doors/windows/items are there?

How many kids/adults/girls/animals?

You get the idea .... have fun and BE AWARE
